Nikon D80 + Nikkor 70-300mm VR. ISO 1600 so a lot of noise reduction in post editing. Vignetting to place more emphasis on the tiger's face. Some clonal paint brushing. Color balancing as described in [link] . Minor sharpening of the tiger's face.

Testing out the new 70-300mm VR at the zoo. I wanted a dedicated telephoto lens and got one used on Ebay for about $300 thanks to MSN Bing cashback. I'm fairly impressed with the sharpness up to 250mm. The macro (1:3) and bokeh are also both very good. But I'm somewhat disappointed by the VR. The VR's pretty unreliable with inconsistent results so in lower lighting situations I end up using high ISO anyway. I've never worked with such a long telephoto lens, so it's slow speed took awhile to adapt to. But it's still a great lens for the money. And good enough for me. I'm not ready to blow 3x the money on a 80-200mm F2.8
