first time doing panoramic shots/stitching :dance: . 6 shots. i used PL and a graduated ND filter...which i now realize i totally shouldn't have used since it makes the sky really messed up, at least for stitching purposes ^^; had to crop out most of the sky because of it ;P

back from vacation :D ...and slowly getting to all the messages ^^;

i think the ND filter makes the sky look great in this shot.
why you cropped it?

ND created an odd vignetting for every shot...so when I tried to stitch them all together the vignetting essentially "collided" and I thought it looked really bad so I cropped most of it out =P

I've been there too - amazing view.
Anyways, great shot! You might have added a little more color to the photo, like yellow/orange to show the original colors of Grand Canyon. Cause' I belive it's much more yellow than what it's like here, am I right? : P

Great panorama look! Where you standing at a bend of the river, or is that impression created by the wide-angle look?

I was standing on an overlook on some tall rocks ;) It would be an impression created by the wide angle / stiching though, I hadn't really noticed =P

excellent job stitching together! I found it best to set the camera to manual so you shutter speed and aperture stay the same and if possible set the white balance the same on each shot, This may help with your sky problem. Any how well done :)

Thanks :D
I did use Manual, but I also used a PL and grad ND filter which is what caused my sky probably ;P ...PL filtered light differently for each shot creating a different shaded blue sky, and grad ND made an odd vignetting effect

ahh right...panoramic stitching does seem to create a wide angle ;)

Either way, a single cropped photo or several stitched (in my opinion much more impressive), it's a great shot. I have a very similar image, taken from 30,000 ft.
I really think that we are often our own most critical critic... but another paradox to our society is that "the ends justifies the means". As a photographer, you should never worry about "how" you got the great shot in front of you... you should be proud that whatever it took... you got it anyway.
