Tutorials and Resources
- Light painting with portraiture: [link]
- Bounce lighting: [link]

Materials and Methods
Nikon D80 + 50mm F1.8 Nikkor + IR remote. SB-600 for bounce lighting. Manual Mode: 5 second shutter at F1.8. The green light is NOT PHOTOSHOPPED. The model posed and the IR remote triggered the flash. Assistant Curry Chern then moved a green finger flash light between the headphones as the model held relatively still for 5 seconds. The path of the green light was captured due to the long exposure (light painting). The model appears more or less perfectly still in part due to the initial flash (slow sync flash). Though the hands do seem to be a bit blurry due to the green light hitting the hands. Remnants of the green light can also be seen on the side of the model's neck/face. Refer to the tutorial above for a step-by-step protocol for more information.

Additional Comments
Flashlights are definitely harder to work with than LEDs just because they're so much brighter so a shorter exposure is needed and lighting in general ends up being a bit trickier to control. Results from the same technique/protocol with LEDs and a 10 second exposure:

Very nice pic. I especially like how it was all done by hand, as in not done in a computer. Excellent shot.
