Taken minutes after an emergency C-section delivery at the high-risk maternity ward in the neonatal intensive care unit. So much care goes into making sure that each baby has a fighting chance at life

Sean was born to a high-risk mother due to her maternal age and gestational diabetes. He's perfectly healthy though; 6lbs, normal length, slightly low blood sugar but probably just hungry, 5 fingers per hand, 5 toes per foot, no extra chromosome, no less.
