Nikon D80 + 18-55mm Nikkor + IR remote. How to take self-portraits tutorial: [link] . GIMP for post editing. Still just playing around. I'll try to be more specific once I figure out what I'm doing exactly. Vignetting stock [link] on overlay. Semi-transparent colored layers for color balancing.
Probably better suited for a journal than the Artist's Comments:

I decided to update my ID with a picture of me in my dorm doing homework XD.

I recently started university and the story is essentially the same for every student that undergoes this change: it's really different from being in high school. Although the coursework is comparable (in my opinion anyway; my roommate disagrees >_> <_< ), living independently (or I guess with a roommate) is definitely going to take some getting used to. Not only must time be specifically allocated to classes (that are held at the strangest times) and homework, it must also be for eating, showering, sleeping, and other seemingly routine activities that somehow still end up getting lost in the long nights of socializing. And of course among one of those routine activities that has been lost is my activity on deviantArt.

I have definitely not been very active on deviantArt recently. I have answered probably 1 comment in the past week...and that comment was a question concerning my absence from dA ^^;

But it's only been a less...wait...yeah less. Keeping track of dates is another thing that gets lost. But anyway, as soon as I find my footing and adapt, I will hopefully find time to spend on dA.

Until then, I will not be replying to everyone's comments as I have done in the past. Please refer to the new FAQs located on my main page under this profile picture and of course the Artist's Comments of every deviation as they will most likely answer a majority of your questions.

Thanks for the support :blowkiss:

Attending a university is a major change in life. Adjusting to a set schedule where many things must be planned out in order to achieve many goals can be very overwhelming. Balancing school along with work, clubs, and hobbies it can become quite a burden.

The main thing is to stay healthy and happy! Make time for friends and hobbies. Never give up sleep and always eat. Having roommates is a nice change of pace. I've lived with my roommates from my university days for about five years now and I can't imagine life without them (well I can and have, but having them around is a plus).

I'm glad to see that you are learning in life and expanding your horizons. I will continue to peek in every so often to see how you have enjoyed life through your work ^^

Well, good luck with the Uni. It is a big change but you'll find the greatest growth as a person there.

My schedule was all over the place, I had 4 hour classes. Some where at 8 am, some at 11 am, some at 3 pm, some at 6 pm and I even got a class on saturdays...weird though traffic wise it was great.

Again Good luck.

Welcome to the world of university! It may take a while to get used to but I am sure you will get used to it and end up managing your time perfectly.

Back in my days (gee... it's been almost 10 years I finished my studies already... I am getting old) I used to sleep only 4 hours a night and had to learn how to be a barman in an Irish pub, a so called "president" of the board of students (it was really more an excuse to have an office on the campus and sleep during class :0) and play the jam sessions on Thursday nights at the local Jazz club. Oh... and I also studied a little bit.

All this was good for two things: Learning how to deal with time and most of all learn to pick and exploit every opportunities that shows up. As for the international business I studied... it ended up being a development of analytical skills more than knowledge itself, which is much more precious in my opinion.

Hope you will have a much a fun experience as I had and keep your smile on.

You look sad :(

Well , Goodluck in the university :) it's gonna be hard at first , you have to do all the things yourself , learn to please other people , try to finish homework ..... a big change in life .

I hope your roommate will be Ok too ^^

P/s : You don't have to reply to this message :XD: too much comments can be a problem sometimes , it's can be considered as luck that I don't have that much comment to reply back while I still have so much homework and researches to do .

Be strong ^^ and take care ^^

See ya soon ^^

i understand how you feel and i'm already in my 2nd year now >.<

i've never lived with a roommate but actually started to live together with my boyfriend about 1.5 years ago so i think that is a bit more easy to live with cause then you don't have to make agreements for like times to use the bathroom etc. etc..

hope for you the best of luck!
and what cute laptop you've got XD

My roommate's pretty cool. Curry's roommate goes to sleep at 9. It's freaky. Will has like the smallest room in the AMRs it's funny.

Yeah, they have a place on campus where you can borrow lenses like you borrow a library book. It's pretty cool but most lenses are for canon D: oh well

How are things on ur end?
EvilLizard Featured By Owner Sep 6, 2009
HAHHAAH I've been going to sleep at 10 on the weekdays xD
Been staying up later on weekends tho (labor day is love!)

So much free food on campus =___=
I think I ate nonstop today.

The shopping place near our school is quite unique xD Lots of vintage stores (vintage vinyl = <3)

So yeah everythings good :D

How are classes?
HalfGeniusHalfWit Featured By Owner Sep 3, 2009
That period of time is still fresh in my mind, although I didn't have to share a room so the experience was somewhat different. I definitely agree that having to sort out time for things is a big change, though. The most important thing is that you enjoy yourself, and I'll look forward to seeing more of you on here when you get the whole independent-living thing down. :)

Well I'm going to say this once, when you're in college/university it's a whole new level. All-nighters, people partying when you're sleeping or doing work. Major stress and being absolutely tired, and drunks. Also you'll have some good/bad professors here and there depending if they love their job or not haha. It takes one year to get used to it at least before you go onto the next. I hope all goes well for you hun, you're always beautiful when you smile and with your glasses? You're just as cute ^^. Good luck, hope all goes well for you

I went to a Magnet school [link] so I'm used to the coursework. :XD:

I guess by now you've already started  How is it?
Kenny-Gulley Featured By Owner Sep 24, 2009  Hobbyist Photographer
Thats one very good magnet then :)
Wish the best forya. You seem up to the challenge!

UCLA (despite my first choice being USC) is amazing. I knew it was cool
when my sister came here, but experiencing it for myself is just awesome.
Going to join a christian frat (have to pledge) but theyre a lot safer than a social frat.
:D Im very happy I found them (in a dropped newspaper).

Classes just started today actually. I seem up to it. Kind of quick style of teaching.
I suppose you have to be for a 10week quarter.
